The screening takes the viewer from the streets of a big city to a beautiful countryside and from great halls to a field of war. There is peace and bitterness in the world of stories and dance. At the same time they are filled with magical illusion and spontaneous joy.
Calmness and the longing for it are present in I Bumped My Head and The Last Resort, and yet, both of the films reflect restlessness and solitude. In I Bumped My Head a woman is carrying a pillow under her arm, trying to find peace in a noisy city. There are people all around her, however, she seems to be invisible to them. In The Last Resort an illusionist hypnotises his audience to become the stars of his play in which the sand tickles their toes and the sun shines.
With a rhythmic tempo Roots dives into the mind and memories of a woman. In the sore and beautiful memories there is a contradiction which can also to be found in Wild, a film in which a competition between two men escalate into a wild dance.
We No Longer Wait for the Barbarians uses the tricks of action film genre and playfully teases with the possibilities of editing. Tiny elements resemble the truth – or maybe the dream? Color of Reality speaks out about the gun violence in the USA. Don’t let the bright colours mislead you: the nasty reality is only dressed in beautiful shades. These film are connected by sorrow and anxiety.
Powerful Insan is a story about hesitating and how a memory of one moment can follow a person for decades. The black and white appearance highlights the fact that nothing is simple. As a balancing element for gloomy Insan, Ease on Down tells a story about two fellow friends who walk in the countryside. Soon enough their bodies and minds are taken over by joy and rhythm.
