Swiss choreographer Gilles Jobin’s VR_I is a playful journey into a world where the definitions of art and technology are intertwined.
Five people inhabit full-body avatars as they enter into different scenes of virtual landscapes. As avatars the viewers may interact and communicate physically with each other as well as with a troupe of virtual dancers encountered in various settings. Blending art with technology, this unparalleled contemporary dance experience dives into unexplored and uncharted territories and touches our needs of belonging and community while exploring the new frontiers.
VR_I was realised in collaboration with the Swiss Artanim foundation developing new virtual technologies. Artanim’s motion capture technology allows recording the movement of a real actor and implementing the motion to a virtual character. By developing the real-time motion capture technology Artanim is researching forms of immersiveness and the ways the technology used for it can be applied for different virtual settings.
Duration of the experience 50´ (including guidance).
Screening every 25 minutes. To check the exact schedule, please view the timetable on the online ticket office. Please remember to show up on time. No late entrance.
