Become a Volunteer at Loikka!
Do you want to take part in creating the 10th Loikka Dance Film Festival? Join our team and become a volunteer!
Loikka is looking for enthusiastic volunteers for versatile tasks in festival production, such as delivering posters, upholding ticket sales and info desk and assisting with multiple tasks in film screenings and the international conference.
This year we are also looking for volunteers to assist with realising the VR programme at Annantalo. As a volunteer you get to work with experts in the field of VR and learn about the different forms and execution of VR experiences. We are looking for volunteers for technical tasks and to uphold the virtual reality works and guide the audience. All the volunteers will be trained for the assignment on April 4th. We require the volunteers to engage for the assignment at least for two days. The volunteers are needed from 3rd to 9th of April, for building and taking down the VR sets as well as assisting with practical tasks during the festival.
As a volunteer at Loikka you get to learn a lot and work in an inspiring atmosphere. In addition to this you are welcome to experience the festival programme and you will receive a letter of reference. Interested? Send an email to [email protected] and tell a bit about your background, previous experience at festivals and of which tasks you are interested in at Loikka.
Please let us also know when you are available to volunteer during the festival dates 5 to 8 April or as a VR volunteer 3 to 9 April. Delivering posters will take place already on weeks 12 and 13.

10th Loikka Dance Film Festival will be held April 5th to 8th, 2018.
Loikka Dance Film Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Helsinki on 5th-8th of April, 2018. Loikka warmly welcomes everyone to enjoy the unique dance film programme which also highlights glimpses of the festival’s ten-year-old history. In addition to this, for the first time Loikka will also be presenting an extensive programme of virtual reality works curated for a wide audience. Physical expression, dance and immersive experiences are intertwined in the virtual reality programme.
Loikka is happy to announce one of the virtual reality works presented in the programme is VR_I by the Swiss dance artist Gilles Jobin, created in collaboration with Artanim Foundation developing Real Virtual technology. VR_I was selected at the Sundance Film Festival and it also won the innovation and people’s choice award for best performance at the 49th edition of the Festival du Nouveau Cinema in Montréal. In VR_I a group of five viewers will enter as avatars into a world of virtual reality which is commonly shared and converts in real time. The viewers interact with each other as well as the virtual dancer they encounter in different landscapes.
In addition to the festival Loikka also organises an international Future Screens of Dance conference on 5th-7th of April. The programme of the conference will focus on the future of dance film and the roles of art and artists in the production of virtual reality. The conference gathers film makers, artists and representatives of new technologies to discuss from different aspects the possibilities of merging dance, film and technology.
The ticket sales start with pre-sale of series tickets at Loikka website on February 19th.
The festival programme will be announced on March 1st.
You may use the codes given with the series tickets to book a ticket for a screening after March 1st.
